Obituary

If you are following my blog, I'm sure you have been exploring in finding your ikigai.

My mother recently passed; a few days ago we celebrated Mother's Day and a few days after what would have been her 81st birthday. As my family and I continue to mourn her death, we were also celebrating her life... not just now but forever by also passing down her memory on how wonderful she was and the lessons she left behind.

With that said, we are now delving on a new topic based on my upcoming book The LOTUS Within. Death is a difficult topic to discuss, but it is important to plan for it. One way to plan for your death is by writing your obituary. In this blog, we explore why writing your obituary is important and how to get started.

Write your obituary

Why Write Your Obituary?

Writing your obituary may seem morbid, but it can be an empowering and meaningful process. Here are some reasons why you should consider writing your obituary:

Control Your Legacy.

Writing your obituary allows you to control your legacy. You can share your life story and accomplishments in your own words, ensuring that your loved ones and future generations understand your values and achievements.

Reduce the Burden on Your Loved Ones.

When you pass away, your loved ones will be grieving and overwhelmed. By writing your obituary ahead of time, you can reduce the additional burden on your family during their grief and ensure that your wishes are followed.

Reflect on Your Life.

Writing your obituary now provides an opportunity to reflect on your entire life and the impact you’ve made. It can help you clarify your values, set goals, and make positive changes in your life.

Conclusion.

How did you feel about writing your obituary? Did you find it difficult to do? What made it difficult for you and what ways can you make it least comfortable?
